SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS (please scroll down)

We have 7 all-weather courts – four of which are floodlit. There are times when courts are block booked for club sessions, coaching sessions and league matches – but at all other times they are available for the enjoyment of club members.

Club Night/Morning

Wednesday 6.00 (on 2 courts) – 10pm (9.30pm between 1st October and 31st March)
Sunday 10am – 12 noon (all year)

These well-attended sessions are generally mixed doubles. We rely on volunteers to organise the sessions so please help out by listening carefully to which court you’re on. Please also bear in mind that you will be playing with people of mixed ability – and we’d ask you to adjust your game appropriately.

Guests are welcome! Why not come along to club sessions on a trial basis – let us know so we can look out for you. Visitors are welcome to play with members up to three times. Visitors fees are £4.

Any questions about playing standard for these sessions should be directed to Paul Harris, Paul Hargreaves or Tina Wall. Juniors can join these sessions by invitation, please check with the coach.

Roll-up

Monday 1.30 – 4pm (all year including bank holidays)
Thursday 9.30am – 12 noon (all year)

A popular general play session – the pairings for each game are drawn at random. Please contact Doug Emmett on 01285 641306 for more information.

Court Booking

Courts can be booked in the Bookings Diary kept on the table in the club house. Please note that you can only book a single session of 1.5 hours up to 2 weeks ahead.

Please leave a contact number with your booking and cancel immediately if the court is not needed – courts unclaimed 10 minutes after the booking time can be used by other players.

Please do not book subsequent sessions in different names. Juniors may not book courts after 6pm but are welcome to use vacant courts, provided they release the court immediately if asked.

Floodlights

Floodlight cards, costing £2 for 30 minutes can be bought from:
D&J Sports, Cricklade Street, Cirencester
Real:Life Coffee Shop at Cotswold Leisure Centre
From committee members

Floodlights must be turned off by 10pm between 1st April and 30th September and 9pm between 1st October and 31st March. Failure to strictly observe the ‘lights-out’ timings breaches the agreement
with our landlord. (During the winter, for Wednesday Clubnight and Friday Mixed matches, we have special permission to keep the lights on until 9.30pm)

In Winter the floodlit courts can only be booked between 6pm–7.30pm and 7.30pm–9pm.

Club Play and Etiquette

Players coming to Club Sessions don’t have to be of team standard but do need to have a reasonable playing ability. They need to be experienced enough in doubles to make the games enjoyable not only for themselves but for other Club Members and be able to play appropriately, allowing for the various standards and ages of players.

More about etiquette coming soon…

Stringing Service

Adam offers an expert and speedy racket stringing service. Contact Adam here.

Courts

Please help us look after the courts by wearing proper non-marking tennis shoes – loosening the nets after play and remembering to switch off the floodlights at the correct time. See Floodlights above for more details.

Guests

Visitors are welcome, it’s a great way of encouraging friends and family to come along without commitment, and great if they end up joining.  They can play up to three times a year but only with a Member. Please note that ‘Guests’ includes off-peak Members choosing to play after 5pm or at weekends. Fee is £4 for Adults and £2 for Juniors – per session. Members are responsible for collecting Guest Fees and sending to the Treasurer.

Clubhouse and Toilet

There is running water in the Spring, Summer and Autumn and a portaloo behind the clubhouse. Please help us keep the clubhouse tidy and use the recycling bins for cans or plastic bottles. After matches all food must be taken away as we have problems with mice. Please empty the waste into the red skip by the cricket club. Please take glass bottles home for recycling. There are replacement bin bags under the sink. We have a rota for cleaning – anyone can volunteer – just put your name down for 2 weeks or a month – there’s a list on the noticeboard or you can email George.

First Aid Box

There is a First Aid Box in the cupboard next to the sink and an ice pack in the freezer section of the fridge. If you use anything that needs replacing, please leave a message for a Committee Member. Go to contact details. If you call an ambulance the nearest post code is GL7 1UT and we’re in Cirencester Park, entrance off the Stroud Road.

Security and Parking

In the interest of all members, please ensure that you lock all entrance and court gates if you are last to leave – or if you find someone has left gates open. PLEASE LOCK UP WHEN YOU LEAVE! Please avoid parking on the grass, unless the car-park is full.

Clothing and Shoes

Please ensure that you, your guests and family wear suitable-for-tennis clothing, which excludes jeans and other non-sports clothing. Your tennis shoes should have non-marking soles. You can draw the curtains and use the clubhouse to change.

Lost Property

Please place any property found on or around the courts in the Lost Property box. If valuables such as money, rackets or keys are found, please alert a Committee Member immediately so these can be taken into safe custody. Please note that the Club cannot accept any responsibility for member’s property left at the Club. Unclaimed items will be taken to a charity shop or thrown away at the end of March/June/September/December.
